Ajmer Sharif

Ajmer Sharif Dargah, also known as Ajmer Dargah, is the tomb of Moinuddin Chishti is one of the holiest places of worship in India not only for the Muslims but followers of every faith. Being the final resting place of the Khwaja Moin-ud-din Chisti, it has had an enormous contribution in spreading the ethical and spiritual values of Islam amongst masses.
Khwaja Moin-ud-din Chisti was a great Sufi Saint and dedicated his entire life for the upliftment of the poor and downtrodden. The shrine is visited by millions of people every year, as it is considered very sacred by people of all the religions. Ajmer Sharif was built by the Mughal Emperor Humayun, hence justifying the rich Mughal Architecture. The Dargah has various constituents like tombs, courtyards and Daalaans. The major among these structures are- Nizam Gate, Buland Darwaza, Jama Masjid, Aulia Masjid, Dargah Shrine, Mehfilkhana and about a dozen of other prominent establishments.
One can spot two huge cauldrons in the inner courtyard of the shrine. These containers have a capacity of 2240 kg and 4480 kg and are used during special occasions to cook sweet delicacies like Kheer.
Ana Sagar Lake

The breathtaking and gorgeous Ana Sagar Lake is a magnificent artificial lake that is located in the city of Ajmer in Rajasthan, India. The construction of this critical site took place under the purview and instructions of Anaji Tomar, who was the grandfather of the grand and majestic king Prithvi Raj Chauhan. In fact, the lake is named after the king Anaji himself. The lake was founded during the 12th century after a dam was built across the Luni River, as a means to promote a better lifestyle amongst the people. Today, the Ana Sagar Lake is one of Ajmer’s most popular lakes and is also one of the largest lakes that India is home to.
The Ana Sagar Lake is surrounded by Daulat Bagh Gardens, which is a splendid garden full of vast open spaces and lush greenery, and the Khobra Behroon temple- two popular attractions of Ajmer that tourists prefer to visit along with a day trip to the beautiful lake. The lake is only 13 kilometres away from the main city of Ajmer. An island can be spotted in the centre of the lake. Tourists love to indulge in boating or water scooter rides here. The lake is about 4.4 metres deep and spreads over an area of 12 kilometres.
Adhai Din ka Jhopra

Adhai Din ka Jhopara is a Masjid built by Qutub-ud-Din-Aibak, first Sultan of Delhi in AD 1199.
Rumor has it that this Indo-Islamic architectural site was constructed in two and a half days and that’s where it gets its name. Adhai Din ka Jhopra is a relic of an old mosque which was constructed with remains of Hindu and Jain temples. Though most of the ancient temple is in ruins today, the area of the mosque is still used as a place of worship. Complete with arched screens, ruined minarets and distinct beautiful pillars it is an amazing place to visit.
Akbar’s Palace and Museum

Akbar’s palace, constructed in 1500AD as the place where he and his troops stayed in at Ajmer, lies in the centre of the town and is a major tourist magnet.
It is well known for the museum which portrays the age old military weapons and exquisite sculptures. The museum showcases various aspects of the Rajput and Mughal style of living and fighting. The large black marble statue of Goddess Kali situated in the palace is quite famous.
Nareli Jain Temple

Nareli Jain temple, located on the outskirts of Ajmer, about 7km away, is a beautiful marble temple with angular and strikingly appealing designs.
This place is a favourite among people who like to spend some alone time in calm and peaceful atmosphere. his Temple is a striking edifice mixing traditional and contemporary architectural styles with 24 further miniature temples(Choubisi ) lined up on the hill above.

Daulat Bagh is a charming garden on the banks of the majestic Ana Sagar Lake, The garden has a delightful background entitled Shimla, which was erected by Maharaja Mangal Singh.

Soniji Ki Nasiyan

Soniji Ki Nasiyan, so called the Red Temple, is a Jain temple dedicated to the first Jain Tirthankara.
Main attraction of the temple is the main chamber, known as the Swarna Nagari “City of Gold”, which has several gold-plated wooden figures, depicting several figures in the Jain religion. The temple draws a lot of crowd, especially because of its beautiful architecture and an amazing sculpture of the Universe.
Taragarh Fort

Constructed in the year 1354, the Taragarh fort is one of the most impressive structures in the city of Ajmer, in the northern state of Rajasthan in India. The state of Bundi was founded in this year by Rao Deva, and this was when the construction of this massive square began. Popularly known as the ‘Star Fort’, the attraction is located on a steep hill and offers a panoramic and breathtaking view of the entire city of Bundi situated in the Nagpahari of Aravalli ranges. The fort was described by the famous author Rudyard Kipling as “more the work of Goblins than of men”. Sadly, time took its toll on this magnificent structure, and most of the majestic and fascinating architecture of the fort is now in ruins. You can, however, still appreciate the features of the fort that exhibit the grandeur of the Rajput rule to this day.
The entrance to the fort is marked by three gateways, followed by tunnels and many battlements along with ramparts. These exhibits are also of great interest to the tourists, such as the famous Grand Canyon or the ‘Garbha Gunjan’. The Rani Mahal, which was built exclusively for the wives and concubines of the rulers of those times and is located in the same area, is also a great and famous attraction for the tourists. The place is at its peak of beauty when the sun sets, and the entire city is immersed in the fading light of the setting sun.
