A two-day-old girl child was stolen by a woman at Civil Hospital today. The woman thief carrying a child was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the hospital.
Sabarwati of Dhandari Khurd said she gave birth to a baby girl on Saturday. She, along with the baby, was yet to be discharged from the hospital when a woman met her in the women and child ward yesterday. The woman said she had accompanied a patient to the hospital.
“That woman even interacted with me at the hospital and she also played with my daughter. I started trusting her. Today, she took my child in her lap and said she was going for a walk in the hospital. When she didn’t come back, I raised the alarm. I asked my husband to look for that woman but by then she had disappeared,” said the child’s mother.
The police reached the hospital and started investigation. When the police checked the footage of CCTV cameras, they came across a woman running with the child.
According to the police, the woman was reportedly accompanied by a man who was also captured on the CCTV cameras.
The kidnapping of the child took place in the civil hospital today. The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon, in which a woman took away a child born two days ago,” Avinash Jindal, SMO Civil Hospital said.
