Sentosa Island

A tiny island just off the shore, Sentosa is a place bustling with entertainment and amusement. It provides a day long trip with some unforgettable memories for life.

If daylong adventure and fun is on your mind, then Sentosa is exactly the kind of place you should visit. Packed with attractions, the tiny island is speckled with panoramic gardens including a butterfly garden, amusement parks, a breath-taking aquarium (Underwater World), beach clubs with lively music, an ethnic village and the highlight of the island, a vast Merlion Statue. One can take escalators to reach the top of this statue that comprises of a lion head and body of a fish to witness a magnificent view. The countryÍs only preserved fort, Fort Siloso, is also located on the island. Siloso Beach is for those seeking solace at the beach with volleyball. The place can be easily approached by hired cars, bus, cable car or even Sentosa Express that costs SGD 4.

Gardens by the Bay

Nestled in Central Singapore, Gardens by the Bay is the botanic gardens of the future, the land of next-gen Supertrees, high-tech space-domes and outlandish sculptures. Home to almost 4,00,000 plants, Gardens by the Bay is famous for the awe-inspiring contemporary architecture and the hypnotic Garden Rhapsody, the light and sound show.

The vast and colourful super park conservatories is spread across 250 acres of reclaimed land along the waterfront. Its famous Supertree structures, which are futuristic botanical giants connected by a commanding Skyway, offer a mesmerizing view as one traverse the skywalk over the gardens. The over-sized seashell-shaped greenhouse of Gardens by the Bay, called the Flower Dome, is the largest glass greenhouse in the world recreating chilly mountain climates.

The garden is divided into three sections namely: Bay East, Bay South, and Bay Central, a garden that connects to the other two made along the waterfront. Of these sections, Bay South is the largest. The world’s tallest indoor waterfall in the Cloud Forest conservatory is another major spot to admire. A walk around Gardens by the Bay also offers an expedition to the climate-controlled conservatories and the Supertrees that are worth visiting.

Universal Studios Singapore

Universal Studios Singapore is a one-of-its-kind theme park located in Resorts World Sentosa. With 28 thrilling rides, exciting attractions, and spectacular shows, the park is spread across 49 acres and is divided into seven fun zones.

From thrilling roller coasters that zoom through reality-bending animations, live-action shows with popular animated characters, and dance parties every evening to kid-friendly carousels, lip-smacking delicacies, and mesmerising zone setups, Universal Studios Singapore promises to be an exciting getaway for the entire family.

Singapore Flyer

Standing at a magnificent height of 165 metres, the Singapore Flyer is Asia’s largest giant observation wheel. Offering a 360-degree breathtaking panoramic view of the Lion City, the huge Ferris wheel is built on a 3-story terminal building at the Marina Bay.

An icon of Singapore, the stunning view from the flyer is best experienced at dusk – view the iconic attractions like Singapore River, Raffles Place, Merlion Park lit up spectacularly at night. The major attraction of the Singapore Flyer are the 28 city-bus-sized air-conditioned capsules, designed to carry 28 passengers through a 30-minute mind-stirring journey of Singapore’s skyline.

For a unique dining experience, enjoy the Singapore Flyer’s special in-flight dining packages, along with the world’s first full-butler sky dining escapade. The flyer also houses the world’s first 6-D motion ride at state-of-the-art XD Theatre. Singapore Flyer’s construction is documented in a multimedia display called ‘Journey of Dreams’, an on-site augmented reality show.

Singapore Night Safari

World’s first nocturnal zoo, Singapore Night Safari is located next to the equally popular Singapore Zoo. Housing more than 130 species of animals, it uses the open-concept enclosures or trams to take the visitors on a 45-minute commented tour of its nocturnal animals and habitats.

Spread across seven distinct habitats, each housing its unique array of creatures, some sections of Singapore Night Safari can only be explored on foot via the four designated trails. For the little ones in tow, the night safari park has a 20-minute Creatures of the Night show. The animals of the night safari, ranging from gaur, chital deer, Asian elephants, rhinoceros, are made visible by lighting.

While the friendlier creatures such as deer roam the park freely, the more fierce animals like lions and tigers are kept in enclosed barriers. Cultural performances are a regular part of Singapore Night Safari – don’t miss out the high-energy, fire-spinning Thumbuakar Performance held daily at the entrance courtyard.

Singapore Botanic Gardens

The Singapore Botanic Gardens, located at Orchard Road, is the only tropical garden to feature as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 82-hectare green space boasts of more than 10,000 species of flowering plants and trees. The prime attractions are the National Orchid Garden, and Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden – the world’s first garden dedicated exclusively to children.

Singapore Botanic Gardens also features the Learning Forest interactive rainforest exhibit, many museums, herbariums, attractive statues, gurgling fountains, a Botany Centre, and many more family-friendly locations. A stunning lake attracts tropical birds and turtles, while butterflies and other insects frequent the sweet-smelling blooms. The Singapore Botanic Gardens is also the venue of performances, recitals, and educational programs at Palm Valley. 

SEA Aquarium

Part of the vibrant Resorts Sentosa World on Sentosa Island, the South East Asia Aquarium or the SEA Aquarium is one of the largest aquariums in the world, home to more than 800 species of aquatic wildlife. The chief draw of SEA Aquarium is the Open Ocean Tank – world’s largest viewing panel at 36-m long and 8.3m high. This is also the only aquarium in the world to house the giant oceanic manta ray.

The state-of-the-art complex is home to over 100,000 sea creatures, spread across 10 zones and 49 habitats found between Southeast Asia, Australia and Africa. This magical marine world is home to varied exotic marine biodiversity such as the Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphin, scalloped hammerhead shark, nurse shark, giant moray eel, poison arrow frog, clownfish, sea nettle, giant Pacific octopus and the Japanese spider crab. Unique species like the guitarfish and the chambered nautilus are also found here. The SEA Aquarium complex also houses the interactive family-friendly exhibition which explores the history of the maritime Silk Route.

River Safari Singapore

The River Safari in Singapore is Asia’s first river-themed zoo and aquarium, part of the Wildlife Reserves Singapore. Spread across the ten unique riverine ecosystems of the reserve, the River Safari houses around 6,000 animals of over 300 species, 40 of whom belong to the threatened species category. These magnificent species are housed in themed exhibits based on the rivers of the world – from Mississippi to Amazon.

The exotic animals at Singapore River Safari include the giant Chinese salamander – world’s largest amphibian, and the giant Mekong catfish – an endangered aquatic animal. This massive biosphere is also the site of Southeast Asia’s largest Panda exhibit, with the chief attraction being the pair of Giant Pandas, a species of a global population of 1,600 and China’s national treasures. The River Safari Singapore also houses the world’s largest freshwater aquarium. Visitors can choose to explore the River Safari on foot or embark on the River Safari cruise. The main aim of Singapore River Safari is to increase awareness of the biodiversity that resides in these habitats, and aid in global efforts to conserve the same. With this in minds, there are various engaging activities like enrichment programmes, interdisciplinary trails and workshops organised at the reserve.

Marina Bay Sands

Marina Bay Sands is a resort complex that offers a complete package to its visitors with a plethora of entertainment options. Started in the year 2010, the Marina Bay Sands Hotel was ranked as the world’s most expensive standalone casino property. It has The Shoppes mall for the shopaholics, an Art-Science Museum for the art-fanatics, featuring classic artworks and holding educational exhibitions and two huge theatres for screenings. Marina Bay Sands also has Celebrity-Chef-Restaurants and two floating crystal pavilions. It has the world’s largest atrium casino with 500 tables and 1,600 slot machines. Not to mention the world’s largest rooftop infinity pool. All of these make this the place the most sought-after attraction amongst tourists and travellers.

Marina Bay Sands was one of the most expensive buildings of the world when it was opened in 2010, costing SGD 5.7 billion. Currently, this famed resort complex serves as a major spot on the bay offering a Pandora box full of amusements. It is comprised of several amazing elements including a premium hotel, luxury brands, a theatre, and a mall with a canal running through it, an art science museum, restaurants and a convention centre that is one of the largest in Asia and many more. An indoor skating rink with synthetic ice is another attraction inside the complex. However, the cherry on the top is the SpyparkÍs viewing deck and an infinity pool nestled in the ship right at the top of the building. Tourists are welcome to visit the observation deck, but the pool is only accessible by the hotel guests. After viewing the gorgeous skyline of Singapore, one can also have coffee and snacks at the rooftop restaurant or buy a souvenir.
