The Source
The waterfalls are formed due to river Kaveri dropping off passing through the rocks and paths of Deccan plateau. The falls are divided into two by the island town Shivanasamudra hence the name. People drop off here to experience the scenery which captures the term “Divine” with all its might. These falls are the second largest falls in the country and also sixteenth largest in the world. One can avail the services of Tokari boat to reach the centre of waterfalls.
The two falls which comprise the waterfalls are named “Gaganachukki” and “Barachukki”. The “Barachukki” falls are few kilometres to the south-west of “Gaganachukki”. To view both the falls together one needs to reach the Shivanasamudram watchtower. This is the spot where most of the photos of the falls are clicked.
