TAKE A GLANCE AT SWAMINARAYAN AKSHARDHAM TEMPLE

Massive temple complex was built by the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha spiritual organization and opened in 2005.’Akshardham’ means the divine abode of God. It is hailed as an eternal place of devotion, purity and peace.

SPEND A DAY AT HUMAYUN’S TOMB

The tomb was built in 1570, and houses the body of the second Mughal emperor, Humayun.
It stands as a magnificent testament to the style of Mughal royal mausoleums.The beautiful surrounding gardens contain the tombs of the emperor’s favourite barber – an entrusted position given the proximity of the razor to the imperial throat – and Haji Begum. This was where the last Mughal emperor, Bahadur Shah Zafar, took refuge before being captured and exiled by the British in 1857.

LISTEN TO QAWWALI AT NIZZAMUDDIN DARGAH

On Thursday evenings, its courtyard exudes soulful music of live Qawwalis accompanied by traditional Indian instruments, which serenade the audience into a state of reverie. One of the families that perform the Sufi devotional songs has been singing there for close to a century. The sessions take place twice every Thursday, once at 4:30 pm and the other at 6:15 pm. Go slightly early to explore and get a good spot! The dargah is open on all days – 6 am to 10 pm.

DANCE TO EDM BEATS AT HAUZ KHAS VILLAGE

Hauz Khas has now turned into a posh locality with a number of restaurants, art galleries, and boutiques. The cafes around have impressive food to offer and the place adds bass and beats to its mood during the night. It also retains its old-world charm through the historical complex that houses many structures from the Sultanate era. And this smooth merger of the past and the present makes it one of the top tourist attractions in Delhi.
